Excursions

At Eveline Day School (EDS) we believe that school trips are an important part of the student's development. "The residential experience is an essential element of a well rounded education and forms part of a life long experience.

In 1998 a group of French children from the Ecole Bilangue, Montpelier, France came to stay with us for 10 days. Each child stayed with a host family from EDS. Then EDS went back to Montpelier where we stayed with French families. EDS did this exchange for several years and it proved very successful and the children were able to use and improve their knowledge of French.

Last year the seniors met their twin french school in the Isle of White. Where we spent a week together participating in various sports activities and got to know each other better.

Since then as we have grown and developed we have three classes that go on annual residential trips:

  • Year 2 - Juniper Hall field study centre for three days
  • Years 3 & 4 Sayers Croft field study centre for four days
  • Seniors - PGL, Kingswood or activity/IT centres for five days.

These field trips encourage the children to grow beyond their own expectations,

  • To discover their own potential
  • Gain a sense of personal achievement
  • Improve their self confidence
  • Heighten their respect for others
  • To gain confidence

Our school endeavours to give as many outside experiences as possible through frequent visits to:

  • Theatre
  • Local Museums
  • Fire Station
  • School Trips
  • End of Year Sports Day
  • Christmas Show
  • Visits to Nature Centres
  • Art Galleries
  • Sport Centres
  • Foreign Exchanges
