ICT

At the Eveline day School we believe that it is important that all pupils develop an understanding of the role of ICT and learn a range of transferable skills to prepare them for challenges that lie ahead.

The school has a secure computer network running Windows XP network with broadband Internet. The ICT suite has two laser printers. Digital cameras and camcorders are available for field trips and pictures taken can be downloaded to the network.

ICT is delivered to pupils for 45 minutes each week in a discrete ICT lesson and is further used within the context of the other curricula areas. In ICT classes pupils have the benefit of an individual computer for their sole use. Pupils can access the Internet under supervision as well as using the quality information on CDROM.

Pupils will learn to use the latest word processing, emailing, spreadsheet and database packages. They will create a multimedia presentation using text, images and sound. Pupils will also learn about animation and how to construct a Web page. They will be given the opportunity to learn about a variety of general topics, such as rules for working with ICT, saving and printing and respecting other pupil's work.

We aim to equip pupils with the ability to find, explore, analyse and present information using various software packages. Students are provided with opportunities to be creative, develop critical thinking skills, and undertake ICT projects independently.
