Special Needs

At Eveline Day School, we value the contribution that each child makes within the school and wider community. We are committed to offering an inclusive education to ensure the best possible outcomes for all of our children, by removing barriers to learning to promote high levels of achievement. We do this by taking account of pupils’ varied life experiences and needs. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum and have high expectations for all children. The achievement, attitude and well-being of every child matters, and inclusion is the responsibility of every person within our school community. Each child is given an equal opportunity to attain and achieve to their full potential whatever their needs and abilities.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

At Eveline Day School we speak with parents to ascertain the abilities, personality and learning styles of children with English as an Additional Language so we have knowledge of their skills.  Within the classroom EAL children are placed with the most fluent English speakers who act as role models.  We also provide peer mentors from other classes who may be fluent in the child’s first language.  Teachers use visual information to make lessons more accessible and specialist staff give targeted intervention and advice.
