THE EVELINE DAY SCHOOL
Education and care for working families 7:30am - 6:30pm Monday to Friday 51 weeks a year
We love Maths and ensure our students leave our care as proficient, fluent and confident mathematicians.
Students have a maths lesson every day, using physical resources, images and abstract ideas to support their understanding.
We develop students who have a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, can choose the best way to solve problems and speak the language of maths.
Promoting a positive attitude to Maths is central to what we do: Number Day, weekly problem-solving challenges, competitions, school trips and exciting daily lessons all contribute to students that love and value maths as much as we do.

At Eveline Day School, we are committed to creating confident, fluent lifelong learners who can read, write, and communicate affectively across academic subjects. We believe that an English curriculum should develop and deepen a child’s love of reading, writing, creative imagination and the ability to communicate their thoughts and opinions fluently and clearly.
We achieve this by providing enagaing, creative and exciting lessons and supporting children to achieve high expectations across English skills. Across the whole school, great importance is placed upon the development of English skills in reading, writing and oracy.
We strive to ensure that, by the end of Year Six, our children are academically prepared for life beyond primary school through a curriculum that enables children to read with great understanding and enjoyment, to write for a range of purposes and genres and communicate their thoughts, ideas and opinions elegantly and effectively either through the written word or spoken language.

Science is held in high regard at Eveline Day School. It is a core curriculum subject taught throughout the Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
We provide opportunities for children to gain hands-on experience of a wide range of scientific ideas and concepts, and children are encouraged to develop a scientific view of the world in which they live and to ask questions about the things that they experience. Our pupils are naturally inquisitive and our science curriculum is designed to encourage their natural curiosity of the world.
At Eveline Day School, we teach science following the National Curriculum. Science teaching is designed and delivered to engage children and cultivate their knowledge, skills and understanding in this area of the curriculum. We regularly have workshops and take part in innovative initiatives held by museums and conferences around London. Furthermore, Forest School enables the younger children to experience a wide range of activities outside the classroom. The potential for scientific discovery is vast and the children are always excited by this link to outdoor learning.
At our school, our aim is to help our pupils live in a rapidly changing world and instil in them a sense of wonder, awe and respect for the planet in which they live.
"The scientist is not a person who gives the right answers, he is one who asks the right questions." French philosopher Claude Lévi-Strauss

At the Eveline day School we believe that it is important that all pupils develop an understanding of the role of ICT and Computer science and learn a range of transferable skills to prepare them for challenges that lie ahead.
We have a secure computer running in all of the classrooms with Internet Access. A specialist teacher gives weekly 45 minute to one hour lessons to students from Upper reception to 6. We have interactive whiteboards that are available for all of the children to use.
Digital cameras and camcorders are available for field trips and pictures taken can be downloaded to the network.
We have access to the latest technology, including IMacs, laptops and Ipads

At The Eveline Day School, we inspire a love of history by bringing the past to life. Children explore Britain’s rich history alongside exciting world civilisations, discovering how people, events and cultures have shaped the world we live in today.
Our engaging lessons encourage children to ask questions, explore evidence and make connections between different periods of time. We enrich learning through high-quality books, hands-on experiences, educational visits and by exploring our local area.
One of our favourite celebrations is our annual History Day, where children proudly dress up to match their learning – from Stone Age people and Victorians to Kings, Queens and other significant historical figures. This fun and memorable experience helps children feel excited, confident and proud of their historical knowledge.

At The Eveline Day School, we spark children’s curiosity about the world, helping them explore the similarities and differences between people and places locally, nationally and globally. They learn how landscapes are formed, how humans interact with their environments, and how the world is connected.
Lessons are hands-on and exciting, using maps, globes, technology, fieldwork and residential trips to bring geography to life. Children put their skills into practice on local fieldwork and residential trips: Years 2 and 3 enjoy short trips, Years 4 and 5 take 3–4 day trips, and Year 6 experience a week-long residential.
We also celebrate learning with an International Day, where each class explores a different country. Children discover facts, traditions and even languages—like learning a Scottish reel in Scotland or the Haka in New Zealand—making geography fun, engaging and memorable.
Children develop the confidence to ask questions, analyse information and share their learning, while understanding their role as responsible global citizens. Knowledge organisers, maps and visual resources help them remember key facts and make connections across subjects, from EYFS through Year 6, building curious and confident geographers.

Eveline Day School believes that every child should play an instrument. In 2000 we joined Wandsworth Music Services who offered a service to schools to encourage students to learn and instrument in school groups and orchestra, with their teachers in weekly sessions. We are part of the Junior Strings Orchestra for Wandsworth playing double bass, cello, viola or violin. Our students preform annually at the Mayors Parlour, the Royal Festival Hall and Fairfield Halls.
We also have excellent singer teachers and participate in the Wandsworth Vocal Projects, performing at venues such as The Royal Albert Hall.
EDS has received a music award from MUSIC MARK for their dedication and outstanding achievements in music.

At EDS we believe that Art, craft and design embody some of the highest forms of human creativity. A high-quality art and design education should engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design.
Art is a fantastic way for all children of all ages to express themselves, be creative and to explore. “All children are artists” – Pablo Picasso
Here at EDS exploring the arts is built into all areas of the curriculum wherever possible.
As a school we enjoy celebrating the art that is created through displays, assemblies and sharing work with pupils and parents.

At Eveline Day School, we believe it is vital that young people are given opportunities to reflect on how different beliefs affect them and those around them. Religious Education contributes to education by provoking challenging questions about meaning and purpose in life, beliefs about ultimate reality, issues of right and wrong and what it means to be human.
Underpinned by our schools’ core beliefs, students learn about and from religions and world views in local, national and global contexts, to discover, explore and consider different answers to these questions. They learn to weigh up the value of wisdom from different sources, to develop and express their insights in response, and to agree or disagree respectfully. Students are equipped with knowledge and understanding of a range of religious and non-religious beliefs and world views, whilst encouraging them to simultaneously develop their own ideas, values and identities.

French is incorporated into our curriculum twice a week for all classes from Upper Reception to Year 6.
In the early years though to Year Six languages are taught through songs, games and activities, leading onto a strong emphasis on oral communication and the opportunity to show their work through plays and assemblies, culminating in a high Key Stage 2 level.

PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) plays a vital role in our unique primary school where the close-knit family-like atmosphere shapes everyday life and helps children develop empathy, respect, and emotional awareness, strengthening the strong relationships they already share and supports pupils in understanding themselves and others, managing feelings, and making positive choices, which is especially important when everyone knows and interacts closely with one another, by nurturing confidence, kindness, and resilience, where every child feels valued and safe.
We have weekly lessons across the school from EYFS to UPKS2 and believe strongly in pupil voice to celebrate everybody’s ideas and opinions.

At Eveline Day School we want to develop our students’ love of sport and recreation. This encourages children to incorporate fitness into their daily lives and develop life-long participation.
We aim to provide opportunities for children to gain confidence with fundamental movement skills, spatial awareness and manipulative skills.• Provide sport attitudes, values and sportmanship.• Provide opportunities for students to be creative, competitive and to face up to the different challenges as individuals and in a team environment.
