The philosophy of Forest Schools is to encourage and inspire individuals of all ages to discover and learn through positive outdoor experiences.
Forest schools uses the woods and forests as a means to build independence and self-esteem in a natural environment. It develops motivational, emotional and social skills, through self awareness so that all children can be develop their full potential.
Forest schools has demonstrated success with children of all ages who visit the the same local woodlands on a regular basis and through play, who have the opportunity to learn about the natural environment, for example the role of trees in society and recognition of specific plants and animals. Children learn how to take risks and most importantly to use their own initiative to solve problems and co-operate with others. Going to the woods in all weathers children learn how to use tools, play, learn boundaries of behavior both physical and social. All children grow in confidence, self esteem and become motivated.
